Community Guidelines
Last updated: August 2, 2026
Echo works because people feel safe being anonymous here. These guidelines explain what we expect from you, what’s never allowed, and what happens if the rules are broken. They sit alongside our Terms of Service, which is the legal version of the same ideas.
What Echo expects of you
Three things, and they cover most of it:
- Kindness first. Disagree if you want, but don’t be cruel about it.
- Respect consensual interaction. Everyone you talk to can end the conversation at any time, no explanation owed — on either side.
- Uphold privacy. Anonymity is the point. Don’t try to unmask, track, or expose another user.
Echo isn’t a dating app
Echo is built for conversation, not for dating — there are no profiles to swipe through and no matching-by-attraction. People sometimes end up flirting or talking romantically anyway, and that’s fine between consenting adults, but it means dating and sexual content is restricted to users who’ve confirmed they’re 18 or older. If you haven’t confirmed your age, you won’t see it.
Never allowed
Zero tolerance — these get you removed from Echo immediately, no warning:
- Sexual content involving minors, in any form, including implied or simulated.
- Sexual services, solicitation, or trafficking.
- Threats of violence, or content that incites or glorifies it.
- Hate speech or harassment targeting someone’s identity or group.
- Animal abuse.
- Anything else illegal where you or Echo operate.
Also not allowed
- Targeted harassment or pile-ons, even if each individual message seems minor.
- Doxxing — sharing someone’s real name, location, or other identifying info without consent.
- Impersonating another person, brand, or Echo staff.
- Spam, scams, or solicitation (including selling accounts or credits outside the app).
- Evading a ban or suspension by creating a new account.
- Exploiting bugs to manipulate matchmaking, moderation, or Echo Credits.
If you’re struggling
Content that glorifies self-harm isn’t allowed, but talking about a hard time is okay — we’d rather you say something than not. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, please contact local emergency services or a crisis line — Echo isn’t a substitute for professional help, and our moderators aren’t equipped to respond in real time.
How we enforce this
Every post and message passes through automated filters, and every report goes to a human moderator. Depending on severity, we’ll warn, shadowban, suspend, or permanently ban an account — zero-tolerance violations skip straight to removal. Every action we take is logged internally for accountability.
Report or block someone
Use the “···” menu on any post, comment, or profile to report it, or to block a user outright — blocking is mutual and immediate. If you need to reach us directly, email support@useecho.net. See also our Help & Support page.
